Well, it’s that time of year again — cold weather, cozy sweaters, and not to mention, the best holiday ever: Christmas! What’s better than cuddling up with nice cup of hot chocolate and watching your favourite Christmas movies? This is my kind of holiday!
I am a sucker for Christmas movies, and I have decided to share with you my top five favourite Christmas movies, which you should definitely add to your movie watch list this year:
There is no explanation needed, this is simply THE BEST Christmas movie ever! In this iconic Christmas movie, Buddy, the joyous fun-loving elf (Will Ferrell), discovers what it’s like to live in the big city, and reminds us all how to spread Christmas cheer. This movie is perfect for putting you in the holiday spirit and leaves you with a big smile on your face.
2) Christmas with the Kranks
This movie is about The Kranks, Nora Krank (Jamie Lee Cutris) and Luther Krank (Tim Allen), and their plan to throw away their Christmas traditions and indulge in a tropical cruise instead. This does not sit well with their Christmas-obsessed neighbours. This movie is great for the whole family, and is almost always on cable TV. Even better, it’s now on Netflix! Both Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis are historical in this movie, and make it worth the watch!
3) The Polar Express
This animated film is a classic, and great to watch with the whole family! I remember when this movie first came out, and it has turned into one of my all time faves for the Christmas season. This tale is about a young boy who takes a magical train to the North Pole. Along his journey, he learns about bravery, friendship and the spirit of Christmas. The message of the movie is simple but heart-warming: the wonder of life never fades away for those who believe.
4) How the Grinch Stole Christmas (Original)
We’re throwing it back to my childhood. How the Grinch Stole Christmas has to be one of the most iconic Christmas movies ever, and will always be one of my all-time favourites.
This movies tells the story of the Grinch, a careless cave-dwelling monster, who’s heart is two sizes too small. He lives on a mountain near Whoville, a festive Christmas-spirited town. He wants to put a stop to this, so he decided to try and stop Christmas from happening by stealing all the presents, stockings, trees, and ornaments. His hope is to make the people of Whoville so sad that they will cancel Christmas. Along his journey, he discovers what Christmas is really about, and finds it within himself to have a change of heart!
5) Home Alone
This fun-filled movie is about a boy who is left to his own devices at Christmas time when his parents forget to take him on their family vacation. He has to defend himself against burglars, and survive on his own until his parents return. I love this classic, and it always leaves me with a laugh, a smile, and great memories! Home Alone has just the right amount of action, humour, and Christmas spirit!
